Young Mother Murdered After Baltimore House Party ? CBS Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ? A stray bullet stole the life of a young mother. The gunman is still on the loose and police are pleading for answers. Meghan McCorkell spoke with the victim?s family?and they have a message for the killer.

Larelle Amos was in the front yard of a home helping clean up after a party when a bullet came flying down the street. Now police want to know who fired it.

Alisa Grinage stays strong as she talks about her only daughter.

?For her, it has to be done,? she said.

Amos, 22, was the light of her family?s life. A dedicated mother to her one-year-old son, she planned to marry her high school sweetheart. Now those dreams are gone.

?You met her, came in contact with her, you?d love her. She was that type of person,? Grinage said.

?Her love, her heart and everything, it?s gone. Our heart. I?m shattered,? said her aunt, Caroline Grinage.

Early Sunday morning, Amos was helping clean up outside a party at a house on the Alameda. Bullets flew down the street. Her fiance found her laying in the front yard. She had been shot in the chest.

?He was holding her heart, he said. And it was ironic because she had a big heart,? Caroline Grinage said.

Larelle Amos died at the hospital.

Detectives believe the shots were fired in the 47-hundred block of the Alameda. Amos was standing a block away.

?She seems to be a totally innocent victim and obviously detectives want to get to the bottom of it,? said Detective Donny Moses.

Investigators found shell casings, but they have no clue who fired the gun or why. They don?t believe the gunman was trying to hit Amos.

Now Alisa Grinage is on a mission.

?I?m not going to be able to sleep or eat,? she said.

And she?s got a message for her daughter?s killer.

?I want whoever you are off the street, like my daughter is gone. I want you gone inside the walls,? she said.

Family members say in high school, Amos was in the National Honor Society. She was president of her class all four years. Currently, she was excelling in her job at a local bank.

Police have no motives or suspects in this case.
