Fawnskin, CA, September 25, 2012, 6:00am ? On Saturday, September 29, volunteers around the nation, including 100 at Cactus Flats in the San Bernardino National Forest, will chip in to restore the lands and facilities that Americans use for recreation, education, exercise and enjoyment.?They?ll be taking part in the 19th??National Public Lands Day (NPLD), the largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands in the United States. Last year more than 170,000 Americans participated at more than 2,000 sites.?The National Forest Association (NFA) has chosen Cactus Flats as their 2012 NPLD work site in support of a multi-year restoration project. One Hundred volunteers are needed?to complete the?work plan. The Cactus Flats area is popular for off-highway vehicle recreation, mountain biking and hiking. Cactus Flats also showcases a very diverse and scenic landscape, where the high desert and the alpine forest meet, offering beautiful vistas.
